Kodama was founded by a conservationist, and we carefully hand-pick each tour operator based on tour quality, and their wildlife & environment policy and practices. We don't rely on third-party certifications, as these often fail to meet our own rigorous wildlife welfare guidelines.
There is no authentic travel experience without thriving local communities. That's why we prioritise working with local businesses and entrepreneurs, ensuring tourism income stays local.
Too often, the burden of researching travel experiences falls on travellers - I see you because I am one of you. We know that one experience can make or break your trip, which is why we test our tours and curate only high quality experiences.

Kodama is a London-based online travel agency, but our name was inspired by Japanese folklore. In shintoism, Kodama are mystical tree spirits (木霊) believed to inhabit ancient and sacred trees. In popular culture, Kodama are probably best portrayed through Studio Ghibli's "Princess Mononoke". Kodama are believed to protect the trees they inhabit, and it is our hope that through responsible travel, we can contribute to restoring the harmony between humans, nature, and all living beings.
