Overview
Wildlife! Wildlife! Wildlife! Departing from Cody, WY, this tour takes you through the stunning Chief Joseph Scenic Byway to Yellowstone’s northeast gate. We enter the famous Lamar Valley, known as the Serengeti of the West. It's home to vast bison herds, elk, and dramatic predator-prey interactions. This region offers the best chance to spot wolves and other wildlife, especially in spring and fall when their activity peaks. This tour explores Yellowstone’s remote northern range, where wildlife thrives and the stunning scenery remains untouched. This experience starts early to allow time to truly appreciate Yellowstone’s northern wilderness. From vast valleys to high mountain passes, this really is the wild side of Yellowstone. Our expert guides will navigate to the best areas for wildlife viewing so you can focus on spotting grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and more, while we handle the driving.
What you will be doing
This tour adapts to current wildlife conditions, but mainly follows the eastern roads of the Grand Loop, connecting the northeast and east side entrances. Depending on conditions, we will sometimes go to the Mammoth area to search for Elk in the rut and near Norris Geyser Basin when grizzly activity is high.
