The Tropic of Cancer is one of the two imaginary lines drawn around the Earth's sphere parallel to the equator. There are two tropics, Cancer and Capricorn. The origin of Tropicos comes from the Greek word Trepomai, which means return, since in the summer or winter solstice, the sun appears to return.
