A perfect place to learn about the work of the Colombian Nobel Prize winner. Here, we find the Gabriel García Márquez exhibition, a space that takes us to an editorial room of a Caribbean newspaper from the 1950s. In addition to typewriters and linotypes, we see a series of animated fragments of three of his most famous works. In another part of the park is the Macondo Media Library, a centre for audiovisual and written media that displays Gabo's work in over 25 languages. In the Museum's Kitchen, we can taste the Colombian coffee that the writer loved so much.
We will walk around the Plaza to locate the places the literary genius frequented. One block up is the famous Heladería Americana, where we will taste a delicious Frozomalt, the unique ice cream that Gabo tells us about in his novel Love in the Time of Cholera. Afterwards, we will visit the Church of Perpetuo Socorro, the church where García Márquez married Mercedes Barcha.
A gathering place and emblematic spot in his life where he met with great friends. Anecdotes of the group of artists who used to finish off their intellectual revelries can be found in this place. The last stop on our tour will be La Tiendecita, a place Gabo frequents to savour typical coastal food. After a tasting in the best Gabo style, we finish the tour.
