Overview

With our electric snowmobiles, you’ll explore the Arctic in a sustainable and peaceful way, far from the noise of traditional engines. As darkness falls, we drive through quiet valleys and open plateaus with panoramic views of the starry sky – and, with a bit of luck, the northern lights dancing above. This is a unique opportunity to experience the raw beauty of Lapland in its most serene form. Your guide will lead you to some of the most spectacular and remote locations in the area, sharing local knowledge and making frequent stops to take in the views – or simply listen to the silence.

What you will be doing

After a short drive we'll get familiar with the snowmobiles and head out in to the vast mountains.

About your host

Outback Abisko AB

We are based in the centre of the mountainous Abisko. We specialise in snowmobiling in winter and hiking & biking in the summer. We take you along the world-famous Kungsleden trail in both summer and winter. As many of our activities are based in the deep Abisko Valley and the Abisko National Park, we have a responsibility towards our surroundings, the Sami, local wildlife, and Nature as a whole. Therefore, we have the following green initiatives: 1). We have close contact with the County Administrative Board and the affected Sami villages. We apply for special permits to conduct our business in Abisko National Park. 2). Our guides are certified according to the Swedish model Fjälledarnormen through the mountain safety council. 3). Our business trades locally and performs almost all repairs and services on our vehicles ourselves. 4). Our vehicles are the most environmentally friendly alternative that suits our business. The snowmobiles are 4-stroke engines with eco mode. 5). We adjust the activities and size of the group based on current restrictions to minimise wear and tear and overexploitation. 6). Our transports and pickups are made according to our sustainability plan and therefore included in all our tours.

For every trip booked, Kodama Travel donates £1 to Just One Tree to restore our forests and the ocean.
